In My Kitchen: June 2015

MAKE LABELS FOR GIFTS
Every year I make a batch of limoncello to give family and friends. It’s a great hostess gift as well. To make the gift even more personal, I make simple homemade labels for the gifts. I’ve named mine Limoncello del Molise, in honor of the Italian state that my grandparents came from. I have a 2-inch paper punch and made a 2-inch circle on my computer program and had fun with type and colors. Or, easily achieve a handmade effect by punching colorful scrapbook papers or pretty cards or handwrite a message on your tag. Then tie with some colorful ribbon or twine. Handmade labels make a personal gift even more individual.

Postcards

A little inspiration from faraway places.

Lovely Florence, Italy. The architecture is so much more impressive in person. We rode the train to the historic town center to take in the cathedral, the baptistery, the campinile, all magnificent. We were able to view the courtyard of the Palazzo Vecchio, home of the Medicis, in wonder. If this is just the courtyard, the rest of the palazzo must be even more incredibly elaborate. And with a life-size replica of the David outside the front door!
